About Mrs. Mansell

I have been teaching at John Gomes Elementary School since 1993.  My first year at Gomes I was the Science Teacher, and then I was asked to teach Fourth Grade the following year, where I have remained ever since.  Several years ago I was given an opportunity to teach the Fourth/Fifth Combination Class which was an enriching and rewarding experience.

Prior to teaching I worked for a major department store for twenty-three years as a supervisor in various credit and financial departments.  Since teaching had always been my objective and passion, I returned to college to obtain my multiple-subject teaching credential and a master's degree in teaching.

I love spending time with my husband, two grown sons, and their families.  I have four grandsons, two granddaughters, and two beautiful German Shepherds named Sassy and Arno.  I love animals (especially the German Shepherd Dog), I enjoy working in my garden, taking long walks, training Sassy and Arno, and bike riding with my husband and family.  I consider myself very fortunate to be teaching here at Gomes.

Personal Mission Statement

My mission as a teacher is to provide my students with an education that encourages them to seek their own answers, work cooperatively with others, become life long learners, and develop positive self-esteem.  I will strive to help each of my students reach their highest potential--intellectually, socially, emotionally, and physically.
